A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is positioned directly between the moon and sun, blocking the sun's rays from the moon.

A total lunar eclipse will make the moon appear red during the across the Western Hemisphere during the "Blood Worm Moon" this week.

Happening Friday morning, a total lunar eclipse will be visible across the Earth's western hemisphere and majority of the United States. This is the first time a total eclipse has been visible here in South Florida since 2022.
