California Gov. Gavin Newsom said he would call for trading partners to exempt California-made products from retaliatory tariffs. The Democrat governor said he directed his administration to explore new trade opportunities and remind trading partners that California is a stable partner.

The California governor said he is "pursing trading relationships with global partners to combat the pain of Trump's tariffs."
