Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks ahead of his meeting with US Vice President JD Vance appeared aimed at easing public concerns.
Vice President JD Vance addressed Israeli concerns by saying the United States isn't there to "monitor a toddler," but to monitor amount of work to do.
"There are not going to be American boots on the ground in Gaza," Vice President JD Vance emphasized during a visit to Israel.
An Israeli security official said the transfer of aid into the territory is halted "until further notice," the first major test of the ceasefire.
The Israeli army said a strike on Yemen on Aug. 28, which killed the premier of the Houthi government and other ministers, also eliminated the militant group’s chief of general staff — in what the Israel Defense Forces labeled a “severe blow.
Hamas has said the return of the remaining bodies "may take some time" due to the destruction. Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance will "depart shortly for Israel," according to a spokesman for Vance.
