Jeep told us late last year that we’d see its midsize Cherokee SUV again in 2025. Well, it appears that then-Jeep-boss and newly named Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa was right on the money. This is the 2026 Cherokee in the metal, and Jeep officially announced Thursday that it will enter production before the year’s end.

Jeep is finally getting ready to launch a new midsize SUV, again called the Cherokee in late 2025. It will be powered by gas combustion and hybrid powertrains.

The next-gen Cherokee will sit between the Compass and Grand Cherokee in Jeep’s lineup and come with a hybrid powertrain. After a brief pause, Jeep confirms the Cherokee is coming back into the lineup. Jeep’s long-running Cherokee nameplate entered the pantheon of Jeep products in 1974 and has since become a staple of the brand.
