The U.S. Justice Department dropped a three-year civil rights investigation of Louisiana State Police on Wednesday.

Authorities announced that a fourth inmate has been apprehended after escaping from a New Orleans jail on Friday with 6 other inmates.

DOJ is abandoning efforts for court-approved settlements with Minneapolis and Louisville after finding they had violated Black people's civil rights.

Five of the escaped inmates have been apprehended as of Tuesday evening, and five remain at large, Louisiana State Police say.

The DOJ said along with the closure of these investigations, they will take back findings of constitutional violations by the Biden administration.

The first Ouachita Parish Summer Safety Initiative was held on Tuesday, May 20. The event was put on by Louisiana State Police in collaboration with Destination Zero Deaths, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries,

Cornelius King Sr., 43, was arrested on one count of second-degree murder for the death of 48-year-old Elaine Davis on May 8.

Hundreds of law enforcement officials are involved in a manhunt for five men who remain at large after a group of 10 inmates broke out of a New Orleans-area jail in the early morning hours of May 16.
