The 2024 season was the first since 2000 that Bill Belichick wasn't the New England Patriots head coach and 2024 No. 3 pick Drake Maye was starting his NFL career. After a second consecutive 4-13 season and another dismissal at head coach, the Patriots will have a significantly different look and some increased hope for 2025 and beyond.
That gave the NFL another opportunity to hone its butchering skills and extract the squeal from the pig that's become America's most popular sport. No date on the league calendar emits more "this could have been an email" energy than the schedule release day. No matter how teams gussy it up, it's still just a calendar.
The Patriots turned to Dave Portnoy to help reveal their 2025 schedule on Wednesday. Using one of the Barstool Sports founder’s popular phrases, they captioned the video “Emergency Press Conference – 2025 Patriots Schedule” as Portnoy seemingly shot from the cuff for over five minutes as he broke down all 17 of the Pats’ games.
