Los Angeles authorities have vowed to prosecute illegal drone flights after a civilian drone collided with a Canadian “Super Scooper” aircraft fighting the Palisades Fire Thursday, forcing the specially-designed firefighting plane to be grounded.

The drone was flying illegally over the Palisades Fire Thursday, taking a vital firefighting resource out of commission for repairs.

Drones and other aircraft not helping with firefighting efforts are prohibited in temporary flight restriction zones around wildfires.
