Jonathan Toews has received a warm reception in his return to Chicago with the Winnipeg Jets. The 37-year-old center spent his first 15 seasons with the Blackhawks, winning three Stanley Cup titles.

CHICAGO -- Spencer Knight made 32 saves, and the Chicago Blackhawks won 2-0 against the Winnipeg Jets at United Center on Monday to spoil the return of Jonathan Toews.

Matthews, Laughton, and the rest of the Maple Leafs embraced both sides of the atmosphere in Winnipeg on Saturday night.

The Winnipeg Jets enter 2026 on the other end of the NHL standings from where they were beginning 2025. Not only are the 2024-25 Presidents' Trophy winners not in a playoff spot, but the Jets are last in the Central Division, the Western Conference and the entire NHL.

Weird is certainly a good way to describe what will happen when the Jets play at the Blackhawks on Monday (8:30 p.m. ET; CHSN, TSN3, TVAS), marking the first time Toews will play as a visitor in Chicago.

“Some days you feel outnumbered and, holy moly, you’re in it,” DeMelo said. “But it’s all a blessing. It’s an amazing ride.
