Canada’s social democratic New Democratic Party (NDP) is waging an election campaign that must go down as one of the most fraudulent and dishonest in the party’s six-decade history.

As of April 30, Elections Canada reported that 81.57 percent of the district's registered electors had participated, with a preliminary total of 86,371 votes cast (archived here).

In the 2021 election, Mr. Chiu had been leading in polls, but he lost his race after facing what he called a “tsunami” of untraceable attacks on the Chinese-owned networking app, WeChat.

In the last federal election held in 2021, the Liberals won 160 seats. In the 2019 federal election, the party won 157 seats. Conservatives won 119 seats in 2021 and 121 seats in 2019.

Preliminary results from Elections Canada show that 17% of seats - 59 out of 343 - changed hands in this election, up from just 7% - 22 out of 338 - in 2021.
