HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The Harris County Sheriff's Office investigated a reported bomb threat at a Walmart store in northwest Harris County, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. The store was later cleared.

Harris County crews are expected to come out in the coming days to talk to witnesses and nearby business owners.

Harris County is one of 244 Texas counties that still has an elected county treasurer. The 10 remaining counties have abolished the position.

According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, deputies responded to the scene while EMS crews treated the woman, who has not been publicly identified. Officials said the dogs were not wearing tags, which leaves investigators without an easy way to track down their owners.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that the teen, possibly 16 years old, was transported to the hospital by Life Flight.

A pedestrian was killed Friday night after being struck by a gray SUV while attempting to cross Kuykendahl Road in north Harris County in an area without a crosswalk. The driver and passenger of the SUV were not injured,

The lawsuit alleges that Erik Carlson, 29, died on Jan. 25, 2025, after jail staff repeatedly ignored his pleas for medical treatment.

The federal lawsuit in Louisiana is the third to be filed in connection to Harris County Jail inmates who died after being outsourced to LaSalle Correctional Center, one of the privately owned facilities that receives millions of dollars from lucrative contracts with the county to house hundreds of its inmates.
