NBC Sports released its complete 2026 MLB schedule on Friday, detailing the network’s return to baseball after a 26-year absence with a package that runs through 2028. The schedule starts March 26 with an Opening Day doubleheader.

The 35-year-old hurler hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2019 season. He spent the 2025 campaign toeing the slab for the Chiba Lotte Marines of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball where he registered a 3.60 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and a 46/23 K/BB K/BB ratio across 50 frames. He’ll add bullpen depth for the Red Sox.

Future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw is a top studio target for NBC/Peacock’s forthcoming Major League Baseball package, sources briefed on the talks told The Athletic.

According to Front Office Sports, Benetti's deal with Fox Sports, for whom he calls national baseball games as well as college football and basketball games, runs through later this year. Any deal with NBC would require Benetti to get permission from Fox Sports and potentially the Tigers, too.
