Some school districts in Massachusetts and New Hampshire are closed on Thursday because of a snow and ice storm.

Snow is already beginning in western Massachusetts as of 8 a.m. Thursday, and it will pick up in the eastern part of the state later this morning. The system is expected to turn into freezing rain this afternoon before tapering off in the evening hours,

The storm will likely see a wide variety of wintry participation, including heavy snow, snow showers and sleet. While the National Weather Service (NWS) has not yet issued any official warnings about the storm,
