Severe flooding occurred in several parts of New Jersey on Thursday as the state is hit with thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds. Many coastal counties saw winds between 40 and 50 mph, with the fastest recorded wind of 57 mph recorded in Sea Bright in Monmouth County.

Thursday was the first rainy day in weeks in Central Jersey, with rainfall still well below average for October. According to the New Jersey Water Supply Authority, the average rainfall for October at its Spruce Run Reservoir gauge is 4.38 inches. Before the rainstorm, only 1.37 inches fell this month.
While the rain is expected to end early Friday, wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected to continue through Halloween night.
