With a victory over Creighton in Omaha on Sunday, the UConn women's basketball team has now won 55 straight Big East games.
A little more than midway through the 2025-26 regular season in women's college basketball, UConn and sophomore Sarah Strong remain the favorites to win the NCAA title and national player of the year award -- just as they were before the season tipped off in early November.
UConn owns a 52-18 record over the Johnnies and has won 51 of the teams’ last 54 meetings dating back to 1989. St. John’s last win over the Huskies was on Feb. 21, 2023, when it upset a then-No. 4 UConn team, 69-64.

Because of additions like Heckel, the Huskies' depth has allowed for more balanced scoring distribution. Serah Williams and Blanca Quiñonez have stepped up and made buckets when Strong and Fudd get cold or become heavily guarded. Quiñonez is UConn’s biggest threat off the bench and is averaging 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
Both UConn basketball teams continued their winning ways this weekend, with the men extending their streak to 12 games and the top-ranked women staying undefeated.

Freshman Ava Zediker leads the team with 12.8 points per game and was named the Big East Freshman of the Week on Dec. 8. Zediker is the first freshman to start for Creighton since 2021 and the first freshman under head coach Jim Flanery to play an entire 40-minute game since 2017.
