San Francisco 49ers star player George Kittle has become the highest-paid tight end in NFL history thanks to his four-year extension—and much of his previous $75 million contract went into creating a serene farm sanctuary in Tennessee.

George Kittle is set up to finish his career with the San Francisco 49ers after inking a four-year extension with the organization that takes him through his age-36 season. However, days before he came to terms on that extension, one club tried to pry the star tight end out of the Bay Area.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on her podcast Scoop City that there was an unnamed team interested in Kittle the night before the NFL draft last week. The 49ers even talked about trading him for a second-round pick. But, in the end, Kittle was destined to remain in San Francisco.
