Likely shark bite reported in Hilton Head waters Tuesday, officials say
The incident marked the first reported likely shark bite of Hilton Head’s busy summer season, according to Shore Beach Service director Mike Wagner. Last year, beach patrol reported three similar cases, all in the month of July. A lifeguard stationed at the end of Coligny Beach Park access watches beachgeors on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017.
The incident, in which the female victim suffered a leg injury, took place in water in Sea Pines on the south end of Hilton Head Island.
