President Donald Trump’s new ban on travel to the US by citizens from 12 mainly African and Middle Eastern countries took effect Monday amid rising tension over the president’s escalating campaign of immigration enforcement.

An immigration crackdown is under way in the United States at a time when international tourists are arriving into the country for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. The tournament, taking place in 11 American cities including at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, kicks off on June 14.
