On the NBA side, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown made an appearance pregame during the Sun’s block party on Canal St. During the game, he sat courtside along with Celtics teammate Georges Niang and a pair of Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox players.
"I think the market here itself is just going to be better for a women’s basketball program," said Sun guard Saniya Rivers.
After a heated previous matchup that secured Indiana a Commissioner's Cup spot, the teams face off again tonight at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
Fans traveled across state lines to cheer on their respective teams, and expressed their desire for Boston to create its own WNBA team.
The Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun played before a sold-out TD Garden on Tuesday, the second year in a row the WNBA has filled the arena to capacity for a regular season game. Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is hoping Boston hosts more games in the future.
The Indiana Fever are heading into the All-Star break playing good basketball. With Caitlin Clark back in the mix, they’ve won two straight games by a combined 36 points and are gaining confidence at the perfect time. One player who's stepped up during the streak? Sophie Cunningham.
