In the first tangible inroads Elon Musk has sought for years in India, Starlink passed a final regulatory hurdle and Tesla opened its first India store.

Tesla has made its long-awaited entry into India with the opening of its first showroom — nine years after CEO Elon Musk first teased the move in April 2016 and following years of delays and shifting timelines in one of the world’s largest automotive markets.

Tesla has launched its first showroom in India in the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The showroom, which is 4,000 square feet big, will not only provide an opportunity to buy a car, but it will also allow visitors to see Tesla’s technology and features first-hand. For the time being, Tesla will sell the Model Y from this location.
