The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 24,130 level, a premium of nearly 38 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Sensex and Nifty 50 fell over a percent each amid heavy selling across the board. Broader markets also reeled under selling pressure as the Nifty Midcap 100 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 indices declined over 2% each.

BSE Sensex and Nifty50, the Indian equity benchmark indices, opened in green on Monday. While BSE Sensex was up over 100 points, Nifty50 was above 24,000.
