A Tuscon, Ariz. native, Ransom played at Columbus, Ohio from 2020 to 2024. Over that five-year run, he amassed 227 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, three interceptions and 13 passes defensed.

In the 2024 NFL Draft, there were three Pitt players selected. The first off the board was offensive lineman Matt Goncalves to the Indianapolis Colts in the third round. Next was wideout Bub Means to the New Orleans Saints in the fifth, followed by safety M.J. Devonshire to the Raiders in the seventh round.

After skipping out on defense with the No. 8 overall pick of the NFL Draft on Thursday, the Panthers took back-to-back edge rushers on Day 2.
