Busboom Kelly was named Louisville’s head coach in 2017. In her eight seasons, she led the Cardinals to an overall record of 203-44 (.822) and a record of 123-21 (.854) in ACC play, along with the ACC titles and NCAA semifinal appearances.
But Busboom Kelly is from Nebraska. She went to school at Nebraska. She won a national title as a libero at Nebraska. She was an assistant to her mentor, John Cook, for another national title at Nebraska. Her husband played football for Nebraska.
For 25 years, the reality is, Nebraska volleyball far outperformed football. There exists no reason to believe, with Busboom Kelly, that it will lose momentum. As an institution, Nebraska is not doomed to repeat its mistakes.
