While Oregon’s chances at winning its first-ever National Championship may be over, the sky isn’t falling in Eugene under Ducks coach Dan Lanning.

Oregon men's basketball struggled to find any offense in a loss at home to Ohio State on Thursday, dropping the Ducks to .500.

The Buckeyes used a 21-0 scoring run in the second half and tough defense to hand Oregon (8-8, 1-4 Big Ten) its second consecutive loss. The Ducks’ 62 points was the second lowest output of the season. Only their 60-point showing in the season-opening win against Hawaii was worse.

The Oregon Ducks season is over after their 56-22 loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Peach Bowl. This was the second year in a row Oregon's season ended in a blowout playoff loss.

Ohio State plays the Oregon Ducks after John Mobley Jr. scored 22 points in the Buckeyes' 72-69 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Ohio State used a 21-0 run to seize control and cruise to a third Big Ten road win at Oregon. Five Buckeyes finished in double figures.

Oregon ran the table in 2024, beating strong Boise State, Ohio State and Illinois teams and knocking out Penn State in the Big Ten championship, winning the league in its first season after leaving the Pac-12. In the rematch with the Buckeyes at the Rose Bowl, however, the Ducks were overwhelmed, losing 41–21.

Indiana and Oregon face off in the CFP Semifinals on Friday, Jan. 9, with Dante Moore and Francisco Mendoza going head-to-head in the Peach Bowl.
