Tim Walz, a Democrat, announced Monday that he would drop his bid for reelection as governor, saying that he would not be able to give a campaign all of his attention as he works to defend Minnesota against allegations of fraud and right-wing attacks -- including from President Donald Trump.

Walz said that over the holidays he changed his mind about running again. He talked to U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar ahead of his announcement, and she’s said to be seriously considering the race.
Walz declined to take questions from reporters but in five minutes of remarks affirmed that he was “concerned about fraud in our state government.”
