Adding the No. 1 pick to the White Sox group of talented young players has general manager Chris Getz excited about the future of the organization.
Getz definitely had his talking points down, if not slightly mixed up. Of course, Getz, a University of Michigan grad, meant “overstate” not “understate,” but give him a break. He was excited, and he works for the White Sox, an understated kind of organization.
Last December, the Red Sox traded Teel to Chicago, along with Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth, and Wikelman Gonzalez, in return for star ace Garrett Crochet. At the time of the trade, Teel was Boston's No. 4 prospect.
Left-hander Anthony Kay is returning to the major leagues, finalizing a two-year, $12 million contract with the Chicago White Sox. Kay will get salaries of $5 million each in 2026 and 2027, and the deal includes a $10 million mutual option for 2028 with a $2 million buyout.
