Bank of America made its commitment following warnings from state officials earlier this week that the ongoing federal government shutdown could delay November SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits for 1.4 million people in North Carolina. This delay may lead to increased demand at local food banks.

If your SNAP benefits or pay have been interrupted amid the government shutdown, the Houston Food Bank is offering relief through special food distributions.

Yesterday a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to distribute SNAP food aid funding out of its contingency fund. The administration planned to start to pause those benefits for many of the 42 million Americans who receive them today.
