Pakistan and Afghanistan have reiterated their commitment to jointly combat terrorism along their shared border, signaling a renewed push to stabilize a region long affected by militancy.

KABUL, Afghanistan -- KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghanistan’s Taliban government said Thursday that Pakistan had carried out two drone strikes on Kabul the previous day, just before the two neighbors announced a ceasefire following days of fighting that killed dozens in both countries and injured hundreds more.

Dozens of fighters were killed in overnight border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, both sides said on Sunday, in the most serious fighting between the neighbours since the Taliban came to power in Kabul.

Pakistans primary concerns centered on the India-Afghanistan joint statement’s reference to Jammu and Kashmir as part of India, and Afghanistan’s commitment not to allow its territory to be used against India.
