According to Bill Connelly's SP+ expert computer model, the Texas A&M Aggies have the edge with a 52 percent chance to escape with a win at Tiger Stadium over No. 20 LSU. Brian Kelly and Co. enter the matchup with a 48 percent chance to win with a final score prediction of 26-25 on Saturday, according to the SP+ model.
Texas A&M is the first school to be hit with a penalty over a violation of the rule, which was approved by the SEC in 2022. The NCAA also approved changes to injury timeout rules that began this season that charges a timeout to a player's team if they present as injured after the ball is spotted by the officiated crew for the next play.
Texas A&M and LSU have played highly competitive games in recent years, kicked off by a historic seven-overtime matchup in 2018. The home team has won each of the past eight matchups, including a 38-23 win by Texas A&M against LSU last season at Kyle Field. Marcel Reed came off the bench and scored three touchdowns in a come-from-behind victory.
The Aggies (7-0, 4-0 SEC) are off to their best start since 1994, which also happens to be the last time they won at Tiger Stadium. If they can beat No. 20 LSU (5-2, 2-2) on Saturday night, it'll be another first-in-a-long-time accomplishment this season under second-year Coach Mike Elko.
