Border Patrol official Bovino in court to answer questions about Chicago immigration crackdown
CHICAGO (AP) — A senior Border Patrol official who has become the face of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdowns in America’s big cities appeared in court Tuesday to take questions about the Chicago-area enforcement operation, which has produced more than 1,800 arrests and complaints of excessive force.
The first "No Kings" Chicago protest was held in June in Daley Plaza and drew tens of thousands of demonstrators. Saturday's protest has been moved to Grant Park, a larger area that can accommodate more people.
At least 11 protesters were arrested amid clashes with local police outside the Broadview, Ill., Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility on Friday morning.
The No Kings “Hands off Chicago” protest was one of roughly 2,500 similar demonstrations against the Trump administration planned across the country and globe, according to organizers.
