As his baseball team nears a groundbreaking in Las Vegas, A’s owner John Fisher is reportedly preparing to sell his other sports team to help finance the stadium.

Fisher has hired investment bank Moelis & Co. to help him sell a controlling share of the Major League Soccer club.

The owner of the San Jose Earthquakes announced Wednesday that he has begun the process of selling the Major League Soccer club. John Fisher, who also owns baseball's Athletics, acquired the Earthquakes with Lew Wolff in 2007 for a $20 million expansion fee,
