The New Orleans Saints' Spencer Rattler was benched for rookie quarterback Tyler Shough after their 23-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 26.

Moore benched Rattler for Shough in Sunday’s 23-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but the Saints fell to 1-7 on a season that has been increasingly hard to watch at the near-halfway point.

The New Orleans Saints were looking for a spark during their eventual, 23-3 Week 8 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the third quarter, first-year coach Kellen Moore made the decision to bench quarterback Spencer Rattler for rookie Tyler Shough.

The Saints drop to 1-7 after a 23-3 loss against the Tampa Bay Bucs. The last time New Orleans was 1-7 was 1999. Both Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough split time during the contest, Shough entering in the third quarter.

NEW ORLEANS — Saints coach Kellen Moore said Monday he’s not ready to announce a starting quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams game Sunday. He said he expects to make a decision on a starter “shortly”. The expectation now is that Moore will announce his starting quarterback Wednesday.
