After Texas rallied to beat Mississippi State in overtime, head coach Steve Sarkisian railed at a report that said he's open to leaving Texas for an NFL job.
Sarkisian has been the Longhorns' head coach since 2021. Earlier this year, he extended his contract with UT Austin.
According to reports from NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Sarkisian is "interested" in potential head coach openings in the NFL. Sarkisian is in his fifth season at Texas, bringing the program back to national relevance while posting a 42-19 record and securing two College Football Playoff Semifinal appearances.
Caldwell found his way to Austin as Texas’ backup quarterback at the last minute. He entered the transfer portal out of Troy during the post-spring transfer window and didn’t commit to Texas until early May, landing with the Longhorns less than four months before the season started.
