The problem of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR is because of "inaction" by local authorities, the Supreme Court said on Thursday, 14 August, while reserving its order on the interim plea seeking a stay on the 11 August direction passed by a two-judge bench of the apex court.

Only 24 percent of respondents said they “don’t support” the Supreme Court order of removing all stray dogs from Delhi NCR within 8 weeks and moving them into shelters.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court bench that the issue of multiple fatalities due to dog bites needs to be resolved.
