Texas avoided the first big upset of the College Football Playoff, hitting a fourth-and-long touchdown pass to keep the game going and beating Arizona State 39-31 in double overtime when an interception by Andrew Makuba finally ended a Peach Bowl quarterfinal classic.

In arguably the best game of the 12-team College Football Playoff so far, Arizona State nearly pulled off what had once seemed impossible.

Next up for Texas (13-2) is the Cotton Bowl and the CFP semifinals. The Longhorns will face either Oregon or Ohio State at AT&T Stadium on Jan. 10.

It was a thrilling Peach Bowl, but Texas escaped with a 39-31 win in double overtime. Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo had a massive performance, finishing with 143 yards rushing with two scores and another eight catches for 99 yards in the loss.

The Sun Devils didn't win but they more than held their own as it took Texas two overtimes to pull out a 39-31 victory at the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.
