The Cincinnati Reds left it until late to conclude their business against the San Diego Padres, and when the business was concluded, the Reds had won the series on a walk-off.

Cincinnati’s Will Benson hit a bases-loaded single off San Diego closer Robert Suarez in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday to lift the Reds to a 3-2 victory. Cincinnati’s Elly De La Cruz led off the ninth with an infield single that originally was scored an error by Padres third baseman Tyler Wade.

Elly De La Cruz started the inning by reaching on an error after a 10-pitch at-bat. After an Austin Hays flyout, Gavin Lux walked and Spencer Steer hit a single to center field and De La Cruz was able to slide in just ahead of the tag at home plate.
