Nearly 15,000 nurses at Mount Sinai, Mount Sinai Morningside and West, Montefiore and NewYork-Presbyterian walked of the job, according to the New York State Nursing Association (NYSNA), the union representing the nurses.

Nearly 15,000 nurses went on strike Monday at some of New York City’s top hospitals, with workers demanding more robust staffing and higher pay.

It’s now the largest nurses strike in the city’s history, and local leaders have joined workers on the picket line urging negotiations to resume.
