DEHRADUN: The recent devastating deluge in Uttarakhand's Dharali village, which caused widespread destruction, may not have been triggered by a cloudburst, according to meteorological data and scientific experts.

Five deaths are confirmed, and 59 people are missing. 274 tourists were rescued. Special forces, medical teams, and equipment are deployed, with focus on restoring communication and clearing debris.

Dharali village, located in Uttarkashi's Rajgarhi tehsil, has a population of 505 and sits near the Kheer Ganga river. On Tuesday, a cloudburst in the region led to flash floods, damaging homes and hotels.
