A tropical depression and possibly a tropical storm is now likely to form in days and is now Invest 97L, according to the National Hurricane Center's 2 p.m. Tropical Weather Outlook.
9:00 p.m. update The overall chance for Invest 97L to organize remains at 70%, however; the 48-hour chance is now up 40% - indicating that we are getting closer to the organization of the system.
"Invest" is short for "investigative area" which allows the National Hurricane Center to monitor the area of disturbed weather for further development.
