India's aviation regulator has warned Air India for breaching safety rules after three of its Airbus planes flew despite being overdue checks on emergency equipment, and for being slow to address the issue,

The move came a day after Indian officials told the airline to improve its operations, and as delays and canceled flights are drawing complaints from passengers.

The airline announced it will cut 38 international flights per week and suspend services on three overseas routes for about three weeks.
