Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), was found guilty on Thursday of sexually assaulting Jenni Hermoso of Spain's women's national team after kissing her on the lips without her consent following the 2023 Women's World Cup.

Spain’s National Court ordered Rubiales to pay more than 10,000 euros ($10,400) in fines and prohibited him from getting within 200 meters of Hermoso or communicating with her for a year. Prosecutors had asked for a prison sentence.

Spain international Jenni Hermoso said Saturday the ordeal sparked by the forcible kiss from disgraced former Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales is finally "over". Rubiales was also acquitted of coercion,
