BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Two tornadoes that killed six people in North Dakota and New York each had wind speeds topping 100 mph and caused brief but widespread damage as they tore through largely rural areas, officials said.

Three people died late Friday in rural Enderlin, North Dakota, after severe storms spawned tornadoes that devastated the area. According to a Saturday statement on Facebook from the Cass County Sheriff's Office,

At least three people are dead in rural North Dakota after tornadoes left damage across eastern areas of the state, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office said in a release Saturday.
