Rev. Fr. (Chap.) Emil Kapaun was a priest from Pilsen, Kansas who became a war hero for his actions during the Korean War. He was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2013. Emil Kapaun served as a chaplain of the U.S. Army during the Second World war and the Korean War. In the picture, we can see Fr. Kapaun celebrating outdoor mass on the hood of his jeep during the Korean War. On May 23, 1951 Fr. Kapaun died in captivity due to malnutrition and disease.
