Welcoming a new thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum into the collection (commonly known as a selloum or hope).I was contacted about a plant that had been donated to a center but they were unable to care for it. It is over 60 years old and clearly needs support and maintenance. This is my biggest plant project to date! Step one will be repotting and supporting her! This was my biggest plant project to date!In nature, these grow up the trunks of trees but in a home, a support of some kind is important as it matures. She grew all these years with no support and she eventually developed a thick and twisted trunk. The first step was repotting!6 months

Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum is claiming my house! Aerial roots in nature serve to anchor themselves into their support structure like trees, buildings, or rocks. Indoors, they will make their way through carpet, wood concrete, you name it. They also use the aerial roots to absorb nutrients from their environment around them. Three things you can do with them: 1)Guide them back into the pot 2)Let them hang out of the pot but be sure watch for attaching. 3) Chop I personally chose to do 1 and 2
